Appeals under the Code

The Commissioners hear and determine appeals made by civil servants under the Civil Service Code.

In the first instance, civil servants should raise their concerns with their own department or agency.  If the matter is investigated by the department but the civil servant does not believe that they have received a reasonable response they may bring the matter to the Commissioners.  In some circumstances the Commissioners may consider taking a complaint direct.

The Commissioners publish three Guides that outline their approach to hearing an appeal under the Civil Service Code.

The Civil Service Code:A guide to bringing an appeal to the Civil Service Commissioners

The Civil Service Code: A guide for departments subject to an appeal to the Civil Service Commissioners

The Civil Service Code: Policies and Procedures: The Civil Service Commissioners
