What the Commissioners will do

If the Commissioners believe there is evidence that the Code has been breached they will investigate the concern.

They will discuss the appeal with the civil servant and the department or agency.  They will issue in confidence a report to both parties with their findings.

They will provide in general terms an account in their annual report record of the number, nature and outcome of appeals made to them.  Wherever possible, they will do so in a way which does not disclose the identity of those involved in the appeal.

The Commissioners sometimes receive complaints about matters which are not covered under the Code eg HR management issues.  If it is not a matter that they are able to investigate, they will advise the individual how to pursue the matter.
